Voters overwhelmingly approve renewal of Multnomah County Library money measure

Multnomah County voters handily approved a library local option levy that does not raise taxes and ensures a majority of library funding will be in place for the next three years. The Elections Division’s unofficial results indicated that nearly 84 percent of people voted in favor of the library measure about 16 percent voted no. Multnomah County Chair Jeff Cogen said he was pleased by the voter support for one of the county’s most popular departments.


Chair Cogen unveils proposed 2012-13 county budget

Multnomah County Chair Jeff Cogen said Thursday that his proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year maintains essential services despite the ongoing challenges of a struggling economy.


Closer to home: County opens new East County Courthouse to serve residents

Multnomah County Commissioners at East County Courthouse Dignitaries from across Oregon government celebrated the grand opening of the new East County Courthouse on Tuesday, April 10, which expands long-awaited justice services to Multnomah County’s residents in east Multnomah County. The new $19.6 million building in the Rockwood neighborhood means residents no longer need to travel to downtown Portland to have access to essential court services. The facility will serve people being adjudicated for misdemeanors, violations and small claims.
