Welcome to the Multnomah County Department of County Human Services. We work to provide hope and a better quality of life for our community’s most vulnerable people. Our vision is safe, healthy, caring and diverse communities where hope, independence, learning and opportunity prevail for all.

The Department of County Human Services provides services for families in poverty, homeless youth and families, survivors of domestic violence, seniors, adults with disabilities, veterans, people recovering from mental illness and addiction, people with developmental disabilities and school-based services for children and families.

Community Services Division Co-Sponsors Prosperity Summit in Rockwood Neighborhood

DCHS’ Community Services Division was one of four co-sponsor organizations for the recent Prosperity Summit, held in Gresham’s Rockwood neighborhood on March 11, 2013 The purpose of the Prosperity Summit was to gather together community members, agencies, faith organizations, and advocates to discuss the impact of poverty on individuals and families living in the Rockwood community and mobilize the group to take collective action. 


Notice of Consolidated Plan One-Year Action Plan FY 2013-2014 - Comment Period and Public Hearings

The One-Year Action Plans FY 2013-2014 for Multnomah County, the City of Portland, and the City of Gresham describe and prioritize current housing and community development needs, establish strategies and set one-year goals to address those needs, and itemize how approximately $11-$19 million dollars in CDBG, HOME and other federal resources will be invested during FY 2013-14, the third year of the FY 2011-2016 Consolidated Plan.


Elder Safe Project: Public/Private Partnership at its Best!

Since February 2012, ADS and district senior centers have launched an in-home safety program called the Elder Safe Project. This innovative and collaborative project is made possible by the generous support of Providence Health & Services Lifeline Program, a medical alert service designed to allow individuals to access help simply by pressing a button they wear.


Multnomah County collaborates to offer winter shelter to homeless families

Multnomah County Department of Human Services is working with local organizations to provide emergency shelter to families with children under 18 years old. Families can access information by calling 211.
