Child and Adult Care Facilties
Multnomah County Environmental Health provides health, safety and sanitation inspections to child care centers, family homes and residential treatment centers in Multnomah County. These facilities are licensed by other agencies. When you apply for or renew your license, you will be notified that you need to obtain an inspection from us.
Get a Child Care Center License
Visit the State of Oregon website. You must apply for a license if you are:
- Opening a new child care center
- Renewing your license
- Changing ownership/operation of the center
- Reopening after a lapse in certification
- Changing location
Request an Inspection
If you’ve already received a licensing packet from the state, please fill out and send us the blank inspection report along with the appropriate fee payment. An inspector will then come out and conduct the inspection.
Child Care Centers
Including certified family homes and before and after school programs. Complete and send us the top part of the sanitation checklist at least 30 days in advance of inspection. New child care construction and minor remodeling need to go through a plan review. Call our office to schedule one.
Fees: For child care centers, the fee is based on the number of children.
- 1-12 children: $200
- 13-20 children: $205
- 21 and over: $225
- Before and After School Programs: $205
Residential Treatment Centers
Send us a completed inspection request form.
Fees:
- Day Treatment: $135
- Residential Treatment: $245
Child and Adult Care Food Programs
Annual inspections are conducted in kitchens to meet requirements for Child and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP) funding. Send us a completed inspection request form at least 30 days before your current inspection expires.
Fees:
- Full Service Kitchen: $235
- Satellite Kitchen: $235
- Serving Kitchen: $205
- Program in conjunction with school: $130
