"Welcome to District Three"

"Commissioner Judy Shiprack Welcomes You"

Dear Neighbors:

My thanks to everyone who helped shape the FY2010 budget. During public hearings courageous, everyday people whose lives have been touched by our work said “thank you”. I thank them back.

The Board was able to balance the budget because many county employees made sacrifices. They gave up wage increases to protect the county’s core values. I can’t thank them enough.

We have a budget that reflects hard economic times, and times will continue to be hard for the foreseeable future. I have concerns that one time only funding for ongoing programs sets the stage for program cuts, job vulnerability, and public skepticism of our real financial stress. However, I remain optimistic we will succeed in our work to find a long-term sustainable solution.
