Commissioner Shiprack
County Budget Outreach
May 05, 2010
Commissioner Judy Shiprack isn't waiting for residents to come to her with questions and concerns about Multnomah County's budget proposals. She's going to District 3 community groups to talk about budget realities and listen to their priorities, concerns and suggestions.
At a recent meeting in Lents, she explained the funding gaps in the county and state budgets that will force cuts in county services. "My colleagues and I are working hard to make the right decisions to protect the county's most vulnerable neighbors", she told the Lents Neighborhood Association at their regular meeting.
The association was the first of several groups in the district Commissioner Shiprack will sit down with and brainstorm with regarding this budgeting cycle. Over the next two months she will also meet with the Sunnyside, Foster-Powell and Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood Associations; the Gateway Area Business Association and other community groups.
If you would like to know more or to share your thoughts on the budget you can attend one of Judy's community presentations, get in touch with her office or testify at an upcoming county budget hearing. Hearing dates, times and locations are listed on the Multnomah County website's main page at www.multco.us.
