Commissioner Shiprack
Volunteering at the Community Cycling Center
May 04, 2010
On January 15th the Multnomah County Board passed a resolution Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr., the Inauguration of a New President of the United States, and Affirming Volunteerism and Community Service in Multnomah County. In conjunction with that resolution Commissioner Shiprack and her staff had the opportunity to volunteer at the Community Cycling Center. They offer a range of programs that broaden access to bicycling and its benefits through our hands-on programs, volunteer projects, and a neighborhood bike shop.
On our service day about twenty five volunteers gathered at the Community Cycling Center to help dismantle and recycle donated bicycles that were are not fit for the road. The group made quick work of dismantling about seventy five bicycles and hundreds of spare tires.
