Dear friends and neighbors,

My office has been hard at work on audits of the Library’s work environment, Joint Office of Homeless Services information systems, and the county’s budget process. But this month we also had a chance to enjoy the sunshine and connect with the public we serve.

My team and I were thrilled to be a part of Portland Sunday Parkways in East Portland. We got to talk with community members about the County Auditor’s role in ensuring government accountability, hear their concerns, and even dance to outstanding music - both live and curated by a fabulous DJ! It was great to celebrate 15 years of Portland Sunday Parkways in East Portland neighborhoods to connect people to their local parks and community resources.

If you would like a member of the County Auditor’s Office to provide information about our work at your next in-person or virtual community event, please let us know. Simply fill out this form, and we will be in touch.

Update on the Multnomah County Charter Review Committee’s Work

On August 11, representatives of the Multnomah County Charter Review Committee presented their final report and recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners. In turn, the Board, as recommended by the Committee, has referred seven measures to voters for the November election. Two of the measures pertain to the Auditor’s Office:

  • Provide timely, unrestricted access to employees, information, records, and require "right-to-audit" clause in county contracts
  • Establish ombudsperson function in county auditor's office

You can learn about all of the measures here

I always enjoy connecting with you and look forward to seeing you more in the community this upcoming fall season. Thank you for your wisdom and perspectives, as my office ensures government accountability!
