A safe and welcoming day center where anyone who is houseless and experiencing addiction or mental health challenges can take a break from living on the street.

You can rest, find support and get help, use the restroom and take a shower.

Located at SW Park Ave and Oak St in downtown Portland, we’re run by people who’ve been there and get it.

You do not need to be clean or sober. And we allow pets!

Open daily from 8am-8pm. Closed the fourth Friday of every month from 12-3pm.

Day Center Services

The day center is staffed by peers who know what it's like.

  • Basic first aid and medical referrals
  • A cool and safe space to relax
  • Support groups and activities
  • Warm drinks, water, light snacks
  • Clothing

You can also get help and connected to more services if you want it, from people who have experienced the same challenges.

You don’t have to participate in any activities you don’t want.

Getting into the Day Center

Tickets Required for Entry. You must have a ticket to enter the day center for EVERY time block. Get tickets at our outreach van at NW 5th Ave and Glisan St (Greyhound Station parking lot). Come get coffee, information and your entry ticket. 

There are four, 3-hour time blocks scheduled during the day—25 people can enter during each time block.

You must enter within 15 minutes of the start of your time block and leave when your time is over. Stop by the van and the staff will get you into the next available time block. 

  • Time Block 1 | 8-10:45am
  • Time Block 2 | 11am-1:45pm
  • Time Block 3 | 2-4:45pm
  • Time Block 4 | 5-7:45pm

Once you enter, staff will take your photo and ask for your name so they can know who is in the center during each time block. Names and photos will not be shared with others.

Rules

  • No firearms or explosives
  • Other weapons (or self-defense tools) must be checked in a locker
  • No drug or alcohol use onsite or within a two block radius of the building

We expect everyone to be respectful and safe. We will work with someone who is being disrespectful or unsafe to help them stay at the center. If the behavior continues, you may be asked to leave.

Nursing Services

Basic nursing services are temporarily unavailable at the BHRC. Look for new services soon. For help finding nursing or other medical care, call 211 or call the Regional Health and Human Services Contact Center - 503-988-8939.

Shelter & Bridge Housing

Do Good Multnomah runs the shelter and bridge housing to help people continue along their path to permanent housing. 

  • The shelter program has 33 beds and 24-hour support services. 
  • The bridge housing program has 19 beds in shared rooms for those who’ve already had some success on their journey towards permanent housing. 

All referrals come through the Day Center. Ask at the front desk for more information.
