The removal of the construction tower crane for Multnomah County's new 17-story Central Courthouse at the corner of SW Madison St. and SW First Ave. has been postponed from the weekend of June 21-24 until a to-be-scheduled weekend in July.
Construction crews were in the process of setting up a crane today to remove the tower crane this weekend. During that set-up, underground utilities were discovered that could be damaged by the outrigger supports for the crane that is used to remove the courthouse crane. The construction team will need to revise the layout before the courthouse crane is removed in July.
Sections of SW Madison St. and SW First Ave. have reopened to traffic and no road closures will be needed until the work is rescheduled in July. For information on the courthouse project, visit: /central-courthouse-project.
