Manufactured Homes Resolution
With homelessness and housing affordability at a crisis point in our community, we need to do all we can to ensure that the affordable housing we do have stays affordable - especially for those with the lowest incomes.
The resolution that I and Commissioner Stegmann brought forward this morning does just that. Manufactured housing is some of the most affordable housing in the County and in the region, and we need to keep it affordable.
By increasing the tax exemption for manufactured housing from $38,000 to $50,000, and ensuring that all manufactured housing owners are able to take advantage of this exemption, our action this morning will reduce property taxes for almost 5,000 of our lowest income residents, potentially preventing some of them from losing their homes. We’ll keep using every avenue we have to make sure that every Multnomah County resident has what they all deserve - a safe, affordable place to call home.
