Ryan Yambra joined the Communications Office as a communications coordinator in August 2018. His primary assignment is the Department of County Human Services, where he covers topics like housing, education, nutrition, and services for older adults, veterans, and people who are disabled.

Born and raised in Portland, Ryan is a lifelong Oregonian. He got an early start working for the County as a communications intern fresh out of high school. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Political Science at Willamette University in Salem while working for a top Oregon state senator.

After graduating from Willamette, Ryan worked for Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury. He also worked as a communications specialist for the Multnomah County Health Department. His main focus was raising awareness about mental health and reducing stigma through public awareness campaigns.

When he's not at work, Ryan likes to run competitively. He especially loves to compete in long distance races like marathons and Hood To Coast relays. He also enjoys hiking, coffee, and reading.

As a communications coordinator, Ryan is focused on drawing attention to County services that can improve people's lives. "I believe in using the power of storytelling to highlight how we all benefit from the County's programs," he says.
