Daniel Garcia (he/him/his) is a Senior Equity Policy Analyst for the Office of Diversity and Equity, joining the team back in 2016. He identifies as Latinx and Chicano, who happens to have been born and raised in the Mid-Columbia River Basin. Daniel is a mediator by trade with M.A. in Conflict Resolution and a B.S. in Speech Communications, both from Portland State University.
Daniel joined the Multnomah County family in 2013 as an Equity and Mediation Specialist and trainer for the Organizational Learning team. In his current role he leverages experience and expertise in the areas of restorative justice, mediation, conflict resolution, the application of the Equity & Empowerment Lens and intercultural communication to support all departments and levels of the organization in innovating and evolving their equity practices and goals. Connecting the intersections of conflict resolution, racial equity, social justice and organizational development is his passion.
Daniel’s professional life prior to joining the county included working for Resolutions Northwest, helping establish Oregon’s first Restorative Justice in Schools program in the Parkrose School District. He also responded to comment cards and advocated for customers as a Community Relations Specialist for New Seasons Market, and wore multiple hats as an Associate Producer, Writer and Assignment Desk Editor for KPTV FOX 12.
