Scotty SheringtonScotty Sherington (they/them/theirs) has been a member of the team in the Office of Diversity and Equity since 2016. In that time they have; lead the Gender Inclusive Workplace Project, coordinated and provided employee engagement support for the Workforce Equity Strategic Plan, and facilitated the update of MCPR 3-42: Gender Identity and Gender Expression Harassment and Discrimination Free Workplace and MCPR 3-75: Employee Resource Groups. 

Scotty is originally from Canada, but moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1986. They came face to face with the White Nationalist Movement while living in Spokane in the late 80’s as a child. This exposure led them to study Sociology at Western Washington University with an emphasis in Race and Ethnicity, as well as LGBTQIA+ History and advocacy. 

Scotty is passionate about talking about the intersectional relationship between; race, gender, and all systems of oppression rooted in White Supremacy Culture. They are active in anti-racism facilitation, organizing, community engagement and capacity building. With a particular interest and specialization in LGBTQIA+ Equity and Policy. 

Scotty lives in East Portland with their super sweet and cuddly American Staffordshire Terrier, Ruby. They enjoy easy access to the Mt Hood Wilderness for hiking and camping, as well as miles of long and windy country roads to ride their motorcycle.
