Public education is my passion.

I began my career in education's front lines, serving for three years as a high school math and science teacher. Following graduate school, I joined MPR Associates, an educational policy and research firm that consults with federal and state governments, state education departments, foundations, and local programs. As director, I manage researchers and conduct quantitative and qualitative studies. My expertise includes:

  • Performance accountability and management information systems
  • Educational finance systems
  • Statistical analysis of secondary and postsecondary data
  • Program and policy evaluation

Details of my professional career and publications can be found at www.mprinc.com

I also am a parent of two children attending Riverdale grade school. My wife Maya and I moved to Riverdale in 2000 for two reasons: the quality of the district's education program and the sense of community that Riverdale offers.

During my Board tenure I have devoted hundreds of hours to improving district education programs, financing, and policy. While serving on the Board, Riverdale has:

  • Achieved ‘Exceptional' ratings by the Oregon Department of Education
  • Instituted instructional reforms that have attracted high caliber students
  • Created a 5-year strategic plan to guide finance and operations
  • Negotiated a balanced teacher contract
  • Amassed a financial surplus in a time of declining state and federal resources

School Board service is not a single-issue undertaking—it requires attention to curriculum, contracting, budgeting, marketing, staffing, and students.

An effective, cohesive Board benefits families with children and boosts property values for us all.

I am committed to building the strongest educational program for our children and those of generations yet to come.

If reelected, I will continue to work in the best interests of our school children and community.
