Sonja has dedicated her life finding bottom line answers to establish quality education for our children, veterans for enhanced quality of life. With the loss of her son in 1986, and intense research into the Oregon budgets, Sonja wrote the Oregon Suicide Prevention legislation. Invitationally spoke nationwide in schools, media, PTA, D.C. Senate Committee introducing “Living Education”.

Harold Williams was instrumental in expanding PCC classes and services to North/Northeast and Southeast Portland by focusing bond construction dollars in these underserved communities. He also ensured that contracting dollars were spread throughout the PCC community.

Harold Williams promotes alternative programs for at risk youth at Portland Community College. He has been successful in expanding classroom space for mentorship programs for students of all ages. An example of this work is “The Success Academy,” where spiritual and cultural leaders come to assist students who wish to attend Portland Community College.

Harold Williams believes that senior citizens are a gold mine of knowledge and that our community colleges must continue to develop programs that utilize this knowledge and highlight their contributions.

Harold Williams leads by example when it comes to community service. He is Chair of the African American Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Board of Directors for St. Mary’s School for Boys-Beaverton. He is a board member for Success Academy, Portland. An advocate for civil rights and affordable education, he works to ensure that youth who have been involved in Juvenile Corrections have educational opportunities which allow them to turn their lives around and make constructive contributions to society.
