Get ready for the November 8 General Election.
Election Day is less than two months away on November 8, 2022. Oregon’s November 8 General Election includes races for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor, state legislative seats and more. Voters will also decide on statewide and local ballot measures.
Ballots will be mailed to all registered Multnomah County voters beginning Wednesday, October 19. It is important to make sure you are registered to vote and keep your registration up to date so that you can receive your ballot as soon as possible.
As a voter, you can get prepared for the November 8 General Election by making a plan to vote and the greater community can help by celebrating National Voter Registration Day with Multnomah County Elections on September 20, 2022.
Make a Plan to VOTE this November!
In advance of the November 8 Election Day deadline, Multnomah County Elections is asking voters to Make a Plan to VOTE! The action-focused checklist walks voters through the five steps needed to ensure their vote is counted:
- Register to VOTE and CHOOSE a Party if you want.
- Get your ballot.
- VOTE your ballot.
- Return your ballot.
- Local elections are important. Make your vote count!
First - Register to VOTE. Voter Registration Deadline is October 18, 2022.
The voter registration deadline for this election is Tuesday, October 18. Register to vote online at oregonvotes.gov. Make sure to update your voter registration anytime you move, change your name, or want to change your party affiliation. Now is the time to check that your voter registration has your current residence and mailing address. Then, sign up for Track Your Ballot after you check your registration!
Get your ballot.
You will receive your ballot in the mail beginning October 19. If you have not received your ballot by October 27, take action by calling Multnomah County Elections at 503-988-VOTE (8683) for a replacement ballot. If you are going to be away from home for this election, you can sign up to get an absentee ballot, available starting Sept. 26, 2022.
VOTE your ballot.
Remember to sign your ballot return envelope. Your signature is your identification. Every signature on every ballot is examined to make sure it matches the signature in the voter’s registration. If you forget to sign or your signature does not match, we will send you a letter and contact you via Track Your Ballot so that you can take action and we can count your vote.

Return your ballot.
You have two choices in returning your ballot. Vote early and return your ballot by mail. No stamp needed! Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, November 8, 2022.
You can also return your ballot to an Official Ballot Drop Site. Return your ballot to any 24-hour Official Ballot Drop Box in the state or to any 24-hour Multnomah County Library Drop Site. All Multnomah County Official Ballot Drop Sites are listed at multco.us/dropsites. Ballots returned to an Official Drop Site must be received by 8 p.m. Election night, November 8, 2022.

Do you want to know when your ballot has been mailed out? Sign up for Track Your Ballot and get a virtual “I Voted” sticker. Text, email, or voice alerts will tell you when the county elections office has mailed your ballot, and upon return when we have received your ballot. Alerts also indicate whether the ballot has been accepted for counting or whether it requires further action by the voter. Inside the “Accepted Ballot” message, voters will get access to a special Oregon “I Voted” sticker ready to share on social media. Multnomah County voters can sign up by visiting multnomah.ballottrax.net.

First celebrated in 2012, National Voter Registration Day has become a nonpartisan national holiday when thousands of organizations and volunteers organize to ensure that our family, friends, and neighbors Make a Plan to VOTE! The first step in the plan is registering to vote!
