The Last Day to Safely Mail Back Your Voted Ballot is Tuesday, May 11. Make a Plan to Vote this Weekend!

Tuesday, May 11 is the last day to safely mail back your voted ballot to Multnomah County Elections for the May 18, 2021 Special District Election. After Tuesday, May 11 you must return your ballot to an Official Ballot Drop Site to ensure it is received by Multnomah County Elections on time. No stamp is needed! Ballot envelopes must be signed and ballots received by the elections office by Election Day, Tuesday, May 18 at 8 p.m. Voters mailing ballots from out of state should mail back earlier. Postmarks do not count in Oregon.

The May 18, 2021 Special District Election includes contests for positions on your local school board, community college, education service district, rural fire district and water district. Depending on where you live, you may have one or more of these contests on your ballot. You will also have at least one ballot measure on your ballot. Sign up for Track Your Ballot 

Our popular Track Your Ballot service is now available in multiple languages! You can choose to receive ballot tracking alerts and updates in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese. Get a virtual “I Voted” sticker after you return your ballot. Multnomah County voters can sign up by visiting multnomah.ballottrax.net. Thirty percent of registered voters are already signed up for this great service!

Multnomah County Elections offers assistance for voters with disabilities at the Multnomah County Duniway-Lovejoy Elections Building, Gresham Voting Center Express, or at the voter’s home or facility where they live. The division is following all safety recommendations provided by the state and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including wearing face coverings and physical distancing guidelines. Face coverings are required when visiting our two voter service locations. Many voter services can also be completed online

Multnomah County Elections provides an interpreter, free of charge to anyone who needs help voting in a language other than English. Additional voting and elections information in nine languages is online at multco.us/VEOLang.

Order Ahead Replacement Ballot Service

Multnomah County Elections offers an Order Ahead Replacement Ballot Service that allows voters to go online to multco.us/orderahead before visiting a voter service location to request a replacement ballot. Voters can request that their replacement ballot be mailed to them or that the ballot is ready for pick up at “Will Call” at one of our two voter service locations. Voters can pick up a replacement ballot at either the Voting Center Express inside the Multnomah County East Building at 600 NE 8th Street, Gresham 97030 or at Multnomah County Duniway-Lovejoy Elections Building at 1040 SE Morrison Street, Portland 97214.

Return Your Voted Ballot 

As a voter, you have two choices in returning your ballot. Vote early and return your ballot by mail. No stamp needed! Get your ballot in the mail to us by Tuesday, May 11 (earlier if you are mailing from out of state) to ensure it is received by our office on time. Postmarks do not count in Oregon. 

You can also return your ballot to an Official Ballot Drop Site. Return your ballot to any 24-hour Official Ballot Drop Site in Oregon or to any 24-hour Multnomah County Library Drop Site.  Please return your voted ballot to the Official Ballot Drop Site closest to you to reduce congestion at other locations.  Ballots will be picked up from library locations and Official Ballot Drop Boxes on a regular schedule. All thirty of Multnomah County Official Ballot Drop Sites are listed at multco.us/dropsites.

No matter how you choose to return your ballot, it must be received before 8 p.m. on Election Night, May 18, 2021.

  • Final election results are certified to special districts - June 7, 2021
