Multnomah County offices, libraries, courts will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 16

January 15, 2024

Multnomah County offices, libraries, and most in-person services will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, due to difficult travel conditions and an expected ice storm. This includes Animal Services.

The Mid County and Northeast Health Center medical clinics will open 8 a.m. to noon, and the pharmacies at those two locations and the Westside pharmacy at Gladys McCoy Building will be open 8:30 a.m. to noon to handle critical patient needs. Already-scheduled medical appointments will be converted to telehealth appointments.

The Multnomah County Circuit Court will also be closed. There will be no Multnomah County Circuit Court hearings, trials or grand juries, and the courthouses will not be open. Jurors do not need to appear. Visit the Court’s website at www.courts.oregon.gov/courts/multnomah for more information.

County warming shelters will remain open and face a critical need for staff now through Wednesday, Jan. 17. Employees who work at a location that will be closed tomorrow, are being asked to consider signing up to work at a shelter if you can travel to one safely, especially for overnight shifts tonight (Monday) or at 6 a.m. Tuesday. These resources save lives, and more people are needed to ensure they stay open. Find opportunities and sign up here.

People are urged to check multco.us and the County’s Care for When It’s Cold page, and to follow the County on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates. Updates to our operations will also be recorded on the County’s inclement weather phone line: 503-988-4633.

The County asks  everyone — the public, employees and managers — to have patience as we try to maintain operations while travel delays and potential power outages may make that difficult.

And please consider volunteering at the County-operated warming shelters.  Only one training module — the "Bloodborne Pathogens course — is required. All others are merely recommended.** Click on the site to see open shifts and to sign up.

Additional warming shelters run by County partners include Cook Plaza, Friendly House, Market Street Shelter and the Powell Shelter.
