Multnomah County Planning Commission seeks new members

November 10, 2014

Multnomah County’s Land Use Planning Division is looking for two county residents who live in rural Multnomah County to serve as volunteer members on the county’s Planning Commission.  Specifically, the county is seeking one volunteer living east of the cities of Gresham and Troutdale and another volunteer living west of the City of Portland.

The Multnomah County Planning Commission addresses rural land use planning issues to meet state planning requirements and policies set forth by Multnomah County’s Board of County Commissioners that apply to the county’s rural areas.

The Planning Commission typically makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for adoption, revision or repeal of components of the Comprehensive Framework Plan, zoning code and other regulatory ordinances intended to carry out the plan as adopted by the board.

The Planning Commission meets on the first Monday of every month (except holidays) starting at 6:30 p.m.  Most meetings take place at the Multnomah Building, 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd., in Portland. The commission consists of nine members who serve four-year terms and are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Applications are due Monday, December 8, 2014.  Applications are available online at /landuse/webform/planning-commission-application or may be requested via US Mail by calling 503-988-3043, Ext. 22599 or emailing adam.t.barber@multco.us.
