Statement: Multnomah County Board of Commissioners condemns Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade

Board reinforces County’s commitment to protect reproductive rights in Multnomah County

The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners joins the many millions of Americans who are profoundly dismayed and outraged this morning by the Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade. We unanimously and strongly condemn this decision, which is poised to undo so much of the progress that the right to abortion has allowed us to make toward the ability to participate fully and equally in society. Abortions are healthcare, they are a right, and access to the procedure is fundamental to the autonomy, dignity and freedom of those who can become pregnant. Though we are fortunate to have this right protected in Oregon, Multnomah County remains committed to advancing reproductive justice in our community and preserving people’s ability to make their own decisions about their reproductive health.
