Video shows construction plan for new Sellwood Bridge

August 22, 2011

The project to replace the Sellwood Bridge is in the final design phase, with construction of the new bridge scheduled to begin in July 2012.

Before construction can begin this December, Multnomah County must submit a funding plan that addresses an approximate $20 million budget shortfall.

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for the Sellwood Bridge Project will meet on August 29 to finalize its recommendation for the new bridge’s design features. The committee includes local residents representing neighborhoods, businesses, bridge neighbors, transportation modes that use the bridge, river users, and design professionals

The addition of design elements will depend on the final amount of funding the project secures by Spring 2012. If funds are not secured, some project elements may be eliminated or postponed until a later construction phase.
