Students were given free PCs through a partnership with Multnomah County and Free Geek. The PCs are surplus county property that's been donated to Free Geek.
Later this month, the Joint Office of Homeless Services will open a new 24-hour shelter at the location of former Sheriff’s Office.
In the early morning on Friday, a large group of young people ages 16-24 gathered at the Oregon Historical Society to celebrate the annual SummerWorks kick-off event.
“We saw a real need in our community and the hurdles that people had to jump through just to get their pets vaccinated,” said Wade Sadler of Multnomah County Animal Services.
Today, the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners voted to use proceeds from the sale of the Edgefield North property to fund a rehabilitated or new animal shelter.
Starting July 1, any business that sells tobacco, nicotine or vaping products is required to get a license. The annual fee is $580.

County buildings and facilities will be closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

The county is taking part in an inclusive startup fund that will provide capital and guidance to businesses run by people of color and women.
