US General Services Administration (GSA)

The GSA declared its long-term goal of reaching a zero environmental footprint (ZEF) and released aggressive greenhouse gas reduction measures, laying out how the agency will reduce its overall greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by 30% by 2020.

Walmart

Walmart has acknowledged that being an efficient and profitable business and being a good steward of the environment are goals that can work together. Their broad environmental goals include:

  • To be supplied 100 percent by renewable energy
  • To create zero waste
  • To sell products that sustain people and the environment.

In addition Walmart has create a Sustainability Index, With this initiative, Walmart is helping create a more transparent supply chain, driving product innovation and providing customers with information they need to assess products’ sustainability.

Sony

Sony has set a series of targets to reach a goal of zero environmental footprint by 2050.  Some of those targets include:

  • eliminating the use of virgin materials 
  • reducing water consumed in manufacturing
  • reducing the weight per product 
  • reducing energy us per product
