Project Description

As part of its continued efforts to improve the sustainability of County purchases, Central Stores researched more sustainable paper options for bathroom paper products such as hand towels and bathroom tissue.

Fiscal Sustainability

Central Stores determined that by switching to a different paper brand, the County could use paper with much higher recycled content and also save over $19,000 per year.

Environmental Sustainability

Choosing paper products with higher recycled content means that less trees, oil, energy, and water were used to make the paper when compared to virgin materials.

Social Equity

The new paper products come from a state registered Minority, Women, and Emerging Small Business (MWESB) company located in the Pacific Northwest.

Cost Savings

The more sustainable brand of bathroom papers will save the County: $19,664.02 in 1 year

Sustainability Benefits

Using paper made with a higher percentage of recycled content will:

  • Save 424 trees a year
  • Reduce 131 tons of Carbon a year
  • Save 141 barrels of oil a year
