During construction, 238th Drive is closed to through traffic from Arata Road to Oregon Street. Access is maintained for neighbors who live between Arata Road and Oregon Street. Through traffic should use alternate routes on main roads such as Halsey St., Glisan St., 223rd Ave. and 257th Drive and avoid residential side streets. A new path on the west side of 238th Drive is open to bicyclists and pedestrians during construction.
Utilities: Through July 2 the contractor is removing a concrete-encased Comcast pipe that is in conflict with the retaining wall being built on the east side of the road.
Paving: Some patch paving is planned at the entrance to Treehill Condominiums on Thursday, July 1, but residents’ access will not be impacted.
Concrete Work: Work on planters for trees and stormwater treatment resumes the week of July 6.
Retaining Walls: Excavation continues the next few weeks for the larger retaining wall on the east side of 238th Drive toward the south end of the work zone. The contractor will install a drainage blanket at the base of the wall. Work on the smaller wall to the north, lower on the hill, is about 75% complete. The contractor will build a gabion wall system to support the widened road. It will feature rows of steel baskets filled with rocks. A concrete slab on top of the wall will support the parapet and railing.
Stormwater: Installation of an underground pipe to carry stormwater down the 238th Drive hill continues.
Work Hours: There will be no work July 3 - 5 during the holiday weekend. Work will resume on Tuesday, July 6.
