The lower section of Alex Barr Road south of the Historic Columbia River Highway in the Columbia River Gorge reopened to traffic this afternoon after a one-day closure. The closure on June 13 was initially reported to be due to a landslide. Today it was confirmed that the road was closed because a car left the road on Sunday and left debris along the road. A Multnomah County road maintenance crew was asked to clear the debris before the road reopened today. There was no landslide involved.
Multnomah County maintains Alex Barr Road and 269 miles of roads in unincorporated areas and three east county cities. For information, visit www.multco.us/roads.
