In early 2020 Multnomah County replaced a failed culvert that carries Rock Creek under NW Rock Creek Road near NW Skyline Blvd. To complete the project, the County's Transportation Division will plant trees and other plants on the slopes that were rebuilt after the new culvert was installed. The planting work is done in the fall to ensure that new plants have the best conditions to take root.

The planting work will take place on weekdays (Mondays to Thursdays) from 7:30 am to 4 pm in October.  Because NW Rock Creek Road is only one-lane wide above the culvert, the work will require some closures of the road to stage plants, equipment and stockpile materials to be used for the day.  The road will remain open when crews are not working onsite.  The work is expected to begin on Tuesday, October 6 and be completed by Thursday, October 29.

  • When the road is closed above the culvert, orange road closure signs will be placed at the nearest intersections

  • The detour route when the road is closed is NW Skyline Blvd. to NW Elliot Road to NW Rock Creek Road

Multnomah County maintains NW Rock Creek Road and more than 274 miles of roads.
