Gresham Library

Gresham Library Original Location

This picture from the Multnomah County Library collection, probably taken in late 1912, shows the original Gresham Library under construction. This Tudor style building was constructed with $1900 in community donations for the land and $13,325 in funding from the Carnegie Corporation for construction and furnishings.

The picture is taken from the intersection of Main Street and Fourth Avenue in Gresham. The Gresham Library operated from 1913 until 1989 when it was replaced by the current Gresham Branch Library, located a couple blocks to the west on Miller Street.
