Multnomah County is pleased to introduce the newest employee resource group designed for employees of Multnomah County who previously or currently serve in the United States Armed Forces.

Multnomah County recognizes that veterans make up nearly 10% of the county workforce, totally over 400 employees, and such individuals and their families have unique experiences that may not be fully supported without continued efforts to include and learn from our fellow employees who served in uniform.

Veterans expect accountability, leadership, solid planning, and respect.  The Veterans Employee Resource Group, known as VERG, strives to bring the concerns of veteran employee to county leadership and first-line supervisors.  The only way this new employee resource group can achieve its mission is with the input and participation of its members and allies.

Come learn about the veterans group, share your ideas, see what is already being worked on, and meet your fellow county employees who are veterans or family members of veterans.  The next official Veterans Employee Resource Group meeting is:

Tuesday, January 24th in the Columbia Pacific Plaza.

WHO: All Multnomah County employees who are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces or family of veterans

WHAT: Meeting of the Veterans Employee Resource Group

WHEN: Tuesday January 24, 2011 from 2-3:30pm

WHERE: Columbia Pacific Plaza. 2205 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland, OR

WHY: Share concerns and ideas to make Multnomah County a better place to work for veterans and their families.

Time spent with an employee resource group is considered acceptable use of work time and interested employees should approach their first-line supervisor to arrange their attendance.
