This toolkit helps long-term care, assisted living, adult foster and residential care operators develop and implement a Respiratory Protection Plan (RPP) at their facilities. The goal of an RPP is to protect health care workers from catching and spreading certain respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19.
 

What is an RPP? 

An RPP is a written document specific to your facility that shows how you provide appropriate respiratory protection for staff. The template provided in the toolkit covers all of the key elements of an RPP : 

  1. Identifying a respiratory program administrator
  2. Assessing hazards in the workplace
  3. Selecting NIOSH approved respirators
  4. Medical evaluation to ensure staff are safe to wear respirator 
  5. Fit testing respirators for a proper seal on the wearer
  6. Ongoing training and education on use of respirators
  7. Program maintenance and evaluation

  • Forms for recordkeeping

When using the toolkit and templates, make sure each sample document includes your facility name and fits with your organization's practice. 

The intent of this toolkit and the templates is to assist employers in meeting the expectations of Oregon OSHA’s respirator protection standard.  It is each employer’s responsibility to make sure their written RPP meets all provisions in the Oregon OHSA standard.
