As the holiday season approaches, Healthy Birth Initiatives (HBI) is seeking gift donations to help support the families in our program. You can help make our holiday celebration a success by donating toys and gifts by December 14.

Healthy Birth Initiatives serves over 700 low-income African American women and their families living in north, northeast and southeast Portland. Many people are not aware that the African-American infant mortality rate is twice that of the general population.

We offer a variety of supportive services to help reduce infant death and illness.

Gifts Needed

So that everyone receives gifts of similar value, please stay within the suggested amounts of $10-25 for children and $20-25 for parents.

  • Infants and toddlers (ages 0-2) - Baby supplies, toys, books or gift cards.
  • Children (ages 3-7) - Toys, movies, games, clothes, hat and glove sets, books or gift cards.
  • Moms and fathers - Stress-relief and pampering items (candles, bubble bath, oils and gift cards).

How to Donate

Bring your gifts to Healthy Birth Initiatives at 5329 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in Portland by Thursday, December 14. If you choose to wrap your gift, please label whether it is for a girl, boy or either, and for which age group.
