Multnomah County will remain closed due to winter weather Friday, Feb. 24, 2023

February 23, 2023

Multnomah County offices and services will be closed Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, due to difficult travel conditions caused by the winter weather. This includes all libraries and offices, as well as Animal Services.

Health clinics will provide most services through telemedicine, but the Mid County location will offer very limited in-person care and urgent pharmacy prescriptions between 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The Multnomah County Circuit Court will also stay closed, meaning there will be no Circuit Court hearings or trials Friday, Feb. 24, and the courthouses will not be open. Jurors do not need to appear. Visit the Court’s website — www.courts.oregon.gov/courts/multnomah — for more information.

Our severe weather shelter operations have expanded to six overnight locations supported by staff from the County, City of Portland and Joint Office partners, and community volunteers. However, we continue to face a critical need for people to take shelter shifts, especially during daytime hours. To sign up for shift, and learn more about our emergency response, go to Care for When It's Cold

As much as possible, volunteers are encouraged to sign up for shifts at sites in safe walking distance. Volunteers are also encouraged to sign up for a two-hour online training before their shift, if possible. Each training session includes time for questions and answers, and can be beneficial whether they are taken before your first shift or after. Register for a training here.

We’re asking everyone — the public, employees and managers — to have patience as we try to maintain operations while travel delays and potential power outages may make that difficult.

People are also urged to follow the County on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.
