The Oregon Voter Registration Deadline is April 27, 2021 for the Special District Election

The Oregon Voter Registration Deadline is April 27, 2021

The voter registration deadline for new Oregon voters is on Tuesday, April 27. Make a plan today to register to vote or to check that you are registered to vote at your current address. You can register to vote online at: www.oregonvotes.gov/register. To register to vote online an eligible voter must have a valid Oregon driver license, permit, or ID card. The online registration deadline is 11:59 p.m. on April 27, 2021. 

Multnomah County Elections reminds voters that Tuesday, April 27 is the voter registration deadline for the May 18, 2021 Special District Election.

If you do not have a valid Oregon driver license, permit, or ID, or it has expired you will need to register on a paper Oregon Voter Registration Card. Registration cards can be found at the elections office, post office, public library, or printed from our website. The deadline for mailing the Oregon Voter Registration Card is a USPS postmark of April 27, 2021.

Voters can also register to vote in-person at the Multnomah County Duniway-Lovejoy Elections Building at 1040 SE Morrison Street in Portland. Multnomah County Elections can accept voter registration forms from any Oregon resident. The deadline for in-person voter registration is 5 p.m. on April 27, 2021.

Multnomah County Elections is following all safety recommendations provided by the state and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including wearing face coverings and physical distancing guidelines. Face coverings are required when visiting our two voter service locations. Many voter services can also be completed online. For questions, please call 503-988-VOTE (8683).

The next election in Multnomah County is the May 18, 2021 Special District Election. It includes contests for positions on your local school board, community college, education service district, rural fire district and water district. Depending on where you live, you may have one or more of these contests on your ballot. You will also have at least one ballot measure on your ballot. All registered voters in Multnomah County will receive a ballot for this election. Ballots will be mailed out beginning April 28.

You will receive your ballot in the mail beginning April 28. If you have not received your ballot by May 6, take action by calling Multnomah County Elections at 503-988-VOTE (8683) for a replacement ballot. After you vote, you have two choices in returning your ballot. 

Vote early and return your ballot by mail. No stamp needed! Get your ballot in the mail to us by Tuesday, May 11 (earlier if you are mailing from out of state) to ensure it is received by our office on time. Postmarks do not count in Oregon. 

You can also return your ballot to an Official Ballot Drop Site. Return your ballot to any 24-hour Official Ballot Drop Site in the state or to any 24-hour Multnomah County Library Drop Site. All Multnomah County Official Ballot Drop Sites are listed at multco.us/dropsites.  No matter how you choose to return your ballot, it must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Election Night, May 18, 2021.
