Multnomah County Taxes
On November 3, 2020, Multnomah County voters approved a measure to establish a tuition-free preschool program. This program is funded by a personal income tax, which went into effect January 1, 2021.
Motor Vehicle Rental businesses located in Multnomah County are required to register with the County and collect a 17% tax on all motor vehicle rentals.
In 2009, the county adopted a $19 per year vehicle registration fee to fund the new Sellwood Bridge. In 2018, the state allowed the county to use VRF revenue on other Willamette River bridge projects.
Multnomah County Transient Lodging Tax is a 5.5% tax that applies to all lodging rentals located in Multnomah County.
In 2003, Multnomah County voters approved measure 26-48 to impose a three-year 1.25% income tax for schools, humans services, and public safety. The personal income tax was instituted from 2003-2005.
