Aaliyah Tucker (she/her) Intern

Hi, my name is Aaliyah! I am a BSW student intern with the Preschool for All program. I do this work to help people gain equal opportunities and to provide resources that people may be unaware of. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my friends, while exploring new places around Portland. I also enjoy spending time out in nature. One of my biggest inspirations is my aunt who was well known in Salem for her advocacy work with the unhoused community. She has really driven me to be where I am today. I integrate equity into my work by learning what unconscious bias I hold and respecting cultural values.

Outside the hustle and bustle of her professional life, as a single co-parent, Aimee treasures every moment spent with her son, especially playing catch and coaching his baseball team. She enjoys a really good book, watching her garden grow, reading tarot, cultivating meaningful friendships, and getting the “perfect” photo.

My excitement for playing comes from my own upbringing and navigating family systems, remembering what it was like as a young child lacking control in difficult situations and not having the words to express my emotions. Playing is how children communicate, a way to build or rebuild safety in a relationship, and fun! Together, we can play and support our young children and their families in being happy and healthy.Outside of work you might find me at the park with my dog, Reggie, performing at Kickstand Comedy, traveling to sunnier warmer weather, or at the gym working on these gains.
