Project Description
We will be adding titanium rebar to strengthen the SE Morrison and Belmont Street approach ramps on the east side of the Morrison Bridge. This will remove the weight restrictions that prevent heavy trucks from using the bridge.
We will also replace the motors and brakes in the movable span, which help to open and close the bridge.
Traffic Impacts
Work on the approach ramps will take place underneath the structure. There will be weekend and nighttime lane closures on I-5 underneath the ramps, and minor daytime lane closures on city streets beneath them.
River traffic will be affected by single-leaf bridge lifts while we work on the movable span. Tug assists will be provided as needed.
Schedule
The work on the approach ramps is scheduled for fall of 2024. The work on the moveable spans is scheduled for summer through fall of 2025.
