Multnomah County, Ore. (Aug. 15, 2023) — The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Program on Tuesday, Aug. 15, reported it is investigating a suspected heat death that occurred Monday, Aug. 14. The individual was found in Southeast Portland when the temperature was approximately 106 degrees.
The death reported by the Medical Examiner is considered a preliminary suspected case and is under investigation as a potential heat-related death. Further tests and investigation will determine whether the death is officially heat-related. The County will update this information as it becomes available.
