0:01 -There's a new Multnomah County transportation option
0:03 in the Cully and Parkrose neighborhoods that's serving as a connector to jobs.
0:08 This is the ACCESS Shuttle.
0:09 Come take a ride and we'll show you how it works.
0:12 The new free shuttle service makes about 30 stops along its route,
0:16 including the Parkrose/Sumner Transit Center,
0:19 the US Postal Service, Northeast Prescott Street
0:22 and Cully Boulevard, Airtrans Way, the Red Lion,
0:26 and the Native American Youth Family Center.
0:28 The service is designed to make it easier for people to get to jobs,
0:32 South of the Portland International Airport,
0:34 in an area that did not have transit before
0:37 and has a substantial number of jobs.
0:39 When transportation costs are at an all-time high,
0:42 the goal here is to give the community a free transportation option to get
0:45 to work and other destinations.
0:48 -Maybe there is an elderly client of ours that just wants to go visit a friend
0:52 and maybe there is a mom that maybe needs to get to a birthday party for her kids
0:56 but doesn't have
0:59 She can look for this ACCESS Shuttle and know that it'll be here Monday
1:02 through Friday and that it has marked stops, and that she can get
1:05 to where she needs to go.
1:07 -I think it definitely fills the need.
1:08 There's definitely a vacuum in this area,
1:10 and there's not really a lot of safe ways to ride a bike or even to walk.
1:15 The shuttle gave me a way to get out of the elements on days
1:20 where it's less than ideal to walk.
1:22 It makes all of these businesses that are on this route accessible to people
1:27 that don't have a car or don't have a friend that they can carpool
1:30 with or may have sort of a disability or just don't want to walk.
1:36 -Do you live or work near the shuttle route?
1:39 Need a way to get to your job?
1:40 Look out for the green and blue ACCESS Shuttle signs
1:43 that will indicate that you're at a stop.
1:45 The shuttle is a partnership between Multnomah County,
1:48 the City of Portland, and the Port of Portland.
