On Saturday, April 21, 2018, and Sunday, April 22, 2018, Multnomah County will honor Earth Day by illuminating the Morrison Bridge in green and blue.

Multnomah County not only works to protect the most vulnerable in our community, but is also committed to a healthy planet. Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury has pledged that by 2050, Multnomah County will transition to 100% renewable energy, an action that aims to fulfill a pledge to our children and community’s future by providing clean air, a stable climate, and more equitable economic opportunities.

The Morrison Bridge is illuminated by 32 ultra bright LEDs (light emitting diodes) that will last about 25 years (running on average 8 hours per day) and use ⅛ the energy of traditional floodlights. The little electricity that is used to power the Bridge’s LED lights comes from clean renewable energy resources.

Multnomah County believes local action can make a difference on climate change.
